Seems like it’s been very busy and hectic lately, but I guess that’s not all bad. We had a fantastic benefit auction in Kenosha, Wisconsin earlier this month, and followed that up with a great benefit auction for Rotary where we tripled the expected income. We had some serious fun!
When I was competing in the Wisconsin State Auctioneer Championship this past August in Milwaukee, one of the questions was….”As the state champion auctioneer, how would you serve as a goodwill ambassador for the auction Industry?” My answer was something to the effect that I was a little different than most people, and actually enjoy speaking in front of people. I am more comfortable with a microphone in my hand, and really do enjoy public speaking. So I pointed out that I would be willing to travel and speak to any group interested about the auction industry.
I have been speaking quite extensively the past couple of months (eight times). Most recently I addressed the Lakeville, Minnesota Rotary and ended my talk with a small auction. It was a lot of fun, and those attending really seemed to enjoy it. I will be speaking next in Grantsburg, Wisconsin. I find it an honor and privilege to speak to any group about the wonderful world of auctions.
Generally, I’ll touch on the current state of the auction industry nationwide. I’ll also speak about changes in the business, tell some stories, talk about benefit auctions and end my presentation with an auction where I’ll sell a few items.
If anyone is interested, please contact me and I’d be happy to speak to any group or organization.
It’s hard to believe how fast time flies! As I’m writing this, they are playing Christmas music on the radio. Yes, we’re moving into the holiday season and soon the snow will be falling. Hope all is well with everyone, and until next time HAPPY FUNDRAISING!
