Employee Recognition Auctions
Although we conduct “Employee Recognition Auctions,” I have not written about them for quite some time. We recently booked two of these auctions for December, and I think these events are a great idea!
So, what is an “Employee Recognition Auction” you ask? Well, let me try and explain. One type we do is where the company has had a sales contest. All employees can become involved, even those who aren’t in sales. Many times salesmen will be paired with others in the company and they will work as a team. Auction “money” is awarded to all participants. Of course the more “sales” you make the more “auction money” you receive.
Than comes the fun! After the contest, a date is set for a celebration and an auction. Many times food and refreshments will be served. The company provides items that the employees can bid on with the “auction money” they have won. These items can be anything and everything! Snow blowers, televisions, computers, trips, gift certificates, etc., etc. December is a perfect time to hold an employee recognition auction, as its right before the holidays and you can get a little Christmas shopping done! These are tons of fun and easy to put on…contact us if you’d like more information.
There is another type of Employee Recognition Auction as well. This is where items are gathered by employees. They can be new or homemade items. They can be quilts, tickets, certificates or anything. The company picks out a charity prior to the auction. When the day comes, it is a “fun” day with food, refreshments and an auction. All proceeds go to the selected charity.
So, there are variations of the benefit auction! Again, we would be happy to sit down and discuss these auctions with you with absolutely no obligation.
We have been busy on the benefit auction circuit, and that’s the way we like it! We’ve put on a lot of miles these past few weeks and have helped raised LOTS of money for very worthwhile causes.
So far, I have not noticed a negative impact from the slow economy. It might be coming, but as of this time our auctions have been very successful, especially the “fund-a-need.” If I have seen negative aspects at all…it would be in the smaller benefit auctions that we conduct.
Now more than ever, it is VERY IMPORTANT to hire not only a professional auctioneer, but a professional auctioneer who specializes in benefit auctions for your next event. Believe me; you will come out much, much better by using the skills of a benefit auction specialist!
Next time, I’ll give you my season’s predictions for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Hard to believe I’ll be starting my 13th season with the team. I can’t wait!
